In Charge The Mission The
West Point German Club promotes German language and culture in the
Corps of Cadets and the West Point Community. The club actively participates
in German-American cultural events in the region, to include the German-American
Steuben Parades in Philadelphia and New York, Volksmarches, the MWR
Oktoberfest at the West Point Club, visits to local German restaurants,
and an annual trip to Washington, DC, where we meet with the Defense
Attaché Staffs of the German, Austrian, and Swiss Embassies. Members
of the club meet regularly for a Wednesday night Stammtisch at the
Cadet Mess, where Cadets, Instructors, and other German-speaking members
of the West Point Community get together and speak German over dinner.
In addition to speaking practice, it gives cadets an opportunity to
talk about German culture and also what it’s like to be assigned as
an officer in Germany. |
